Dr. Carlo Morosi graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in the academic year 1987–1988, with a final grade of 110/110 with honors. He subsequently specialized in Radiodiagnostics and Radiotherapy at the University of Milan in 1992, graduating with a score of 70 with honors.
From 1987 to 1990 he worked as a visiting physician and later as a research fellow in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology of the Digestive System at the National Cancer Institute of Milan.
From 1990 to 2004 he served as a permanent Level I Medical Director at the Radiology Unit of Bassini Hospital in Cinisello Balsamo.
From 1990 to 2004 he also served as a permanent Level I Medical Director in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the National Cancer Institute of Milan.
Since 2015 he has been Head of the Pediatric Oncologic Radiology Unit at the IRCCS National Cancer Institute Foundation of Milan.
Each year he collaborates with the School of Specialization in Oncology at the University of Milan, delivering lectures on the radiological aspects of pediatric tumors.
Since 2024 he has been a member of the National Executive Board of the Italian Sarcoma Group, a non-profit association dedicated to research and treatment of sarcomas.
He is a member of the radiology panel of SIOP (International Society of Paediatric Oncology) for the study and treatment of pediatric renal tumors and serves as the national radiology coordinator in the European study “UMBREL SIOP-RTSG 2016: Diagnosis and Treatment of Wilms Tumor.” Within this study, he performs centralized radiological review of all Italian cases (currently approximately 200 enrolled) and, when requested, provides a second opinion within 72 hours regarding the need to perform a biopsy of renal lesions.
He is also a member of the radiology panel of SIOP for the study and treatment of pediatric sarcomas (EpSSG). He regularly participates in EpSSG meetings and working groups, contributing to the development of new protocols, guidelines, and radiological papers, particularly in rhabdomyosarcomas and non-rhabdomyosarcoma soft tissue sarcomas.
He serves as the reference radiologist for numerous research protocols at the National Cancer Institute of Milan, in collaboration with the Pediatric Radiology Unit, Medical Oncology Unit 2 – Mesenchymal Tumors, and the Sarcoma Surgery Unit.
He also participates as the reference radiologist in multidisciplinary meetings organized by the Pediatric Oncology Unit, Medical Oncology Unit 2 – Mesenchymal Tumors, the Sarcoma Surgery Unit, and the Rare Digestive System Tumors Unit.
2018 – Associate researcher in the research project “Evaluation of Intratumor Heterogeneity in Embryonal Pediatric Tumors and Possible Implications for Common and Druggable Activated Pathways.”
2017 – Associate researcher in the study “Optimization of CT Examination Protocols in Pediatric Patients.”
2010 – Principal investigator in the study “Evaluation of Treatment Response According to Dimensional and Tissue Criteria Using Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound in Patients with Soft Tissue Sarcomas or Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST) After Molecular Targeted Therapies.”
2010 component steering committee in prospective controlled randomized trial: Localized high-risk soft tissue sarcomas of the extremities and superficial trunk in adults: an integrating approach comprisingstandard vs histotype-tailored neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
