Dr. Stefano Salvati is a Medical Doctor specialized in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine and an Occupational Health Physician, with a professional background focused on public health, prevention, and the management of health within hospital and workplace settings.
His expertise spans from the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) to the organization of vaccination campaigns and immunization programs for specific patient groups, as well as occupational health surveillance and risk assessment, with particular attention to current health and safety regulations (Legislative Decree 81/2008). He has developed solid experience in occupational medicine, biological and environmental risk prevention, and the promotion of corporate strategies aimed at safeguarding health.
In his current role as Medical Officer at the Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, he is responsible for infection prevention and control, hygiene and health surveillance, and the protection of employee health. He oversees infection risk management within healthcare facilities and promotes good hygiene practices. In addition, he coordinates the Institute’s Vaccination Clinic dedicated to oncology patients.
Dr. Salvati has gained significant experience in managing public health emergencies, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he coordinated prevention and containment activities in large organizational settings.
Previously, he carried out hygiene and health supervision activities for the local health authority (ATS), overseeing healthcare, educational, recreational, and accommodation facilities, as well as evaluating public events and handling citizen reports and complaints.
He also has expertise in epidemiological research and scientific dissemination, with publications in international journals and participation in projects focused on infection prevention, immunization of vulnerable patients, and safety in clinical environments.
He is actively involved in healthcare staff training and serves as the scientific director of several educational programs on topics such as healthcare-associated infection prevention (HAIs), Legionella surveillance, and pandemic preparedness planning.
Dr. Salvati is a member of the “Intact” board, which aims to support and harmonize the implementation of new digital technologies based on Artificial Intelligence within the Institute.
Finally, he is proficient in the use of major digital tools for health management, epidemiological data analysis, and computerized infectious disease surveillance systems.
