I am a researcher with a degree in Biological Sciences, a Master’s in Epidemiology, and a PhD in Integrated Biomedical Research. Since 2008, I have been working at Fondazione IRCCS Istituto Nazionale dei Tumori in Milan, first as a post-graduate fellow and, since 2019, as a researcher. My scientific activity focuses on primary and tertiary prevention of cancer and chronic diseases, with a specific interest in the role of nutrition and lifestyle in both sporadic and hereditary breast cancer. I have been actively involved in the design and implementation of prospective studies and randomized dietary trials, including those targeting women with BRCA gene mutations. I also collaborate on research projects exploring the use of metformin in non-diabetic individuals and in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). I am currently the principal investigator of the DISCOVEROMICS project, aimed at identifying key mechanisms linking diet, dysbiosis, and metabolism to recurrence risk in women with a previous breast cancer diagnosis. These projects are carried out within multidisciplinary teams of epidemiologists, nutritionists, biologists, oncologists, and surgeons, using an integrated clinical and translational research approach.
